Following last week’s announcement of The Heart of a Shadow, I’ve decided to open up some spots on my ARC team.
For anyone who’s unsure, ARC is author lingo for ‘advanced reader copy’ and being on someone’s ARC team means that you strike a deal with the author where, in exchange for a free copy of their upcoming book, you agree to read it and leave an honest review for them on Amazon, Kobo, Goodreads, your blog, your facebook – wherever you can.
Up until now I haven’t really formalised an ARC team (it’s a daunting prospect, and I feel a bit weird talking about it like this) and have been working from a tattered journal with a haphazard list of names in it. That needed to change, and in updating my database I decided to update my process, too – and with The Heart of a Shadow almost ready to go out to ARC readers, I figured why not throw the list open and see if anyone new is interested in coming on board?
The way it works is as follows:
– You fill out this form telling me you’re interested.
– I’ll then email you when the ARCs are available, and you either agree to take one on board for reading and review, or you say no thanks I’m a tad busy right now.
– If you are available, I’ll send you a digital copy of my upcoming release for free, in exchange for your promise to drop honest reviews for it once you’re finished reading. Depending on the method, some reviews can go up before the release date whilst others (eg, Amazon) can’t be posted until the book is live.
– When release date rolls around, I’ll send you an email reminding you to pretty please post any reviews that you may not have been able to post yet. You then leave your reviews and we go on with our lives until the next book, at which time I’ll email you again and ask if you are interested in the next offering – and so we go around again.
If you decide to opt out of the team at any time, that’s totally fine! You just email me and let me know, and I’ll take you off the list. There is no pre-requisite for becoming an ARC reader apart from being willing to leave me a review, so don’t feel daunted if you’re not a bookstagrammer or professional reviewer or anything like that – this is an equal opportunity ARC team open to anyone who might be interested in working with me a little more closely. I mean, we don’t have matching t-shirts or anything, but the camaraderie will be real, I promise!
So… if you’re interested in an ARC for The Heart of a Shadow, or even in future books in any of my other series, click the sign-up link below and let’s get this party started!
